Tourist in my own City – Imagine Van Gogh #imaginevangogh

I was so happy to be able to get tickets to an exhibit that is currently taking place at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Named an “Immersive exhibition” by the organizers, this “show” highlights the works of famous artist Vincent Van Gogh produced by Annabelle Mauger and Julien Baron, presented by Tandem. This static exhibit is able to operate during Covid-19 as ticket holders are kept to a minimum, with social distancing and cleaning protocols in effect. Ticket holders are given a pre-scheduled one hour time slot to view Van Gogh’s most popular 200 works. The result is a hypnotic experience showcasing Van Gogh’s works from 1889 to 1890 along a fantastic sound track. I was excited to learn more about this artist as I studied his tormented past in high school. My favourites included “Sunflowers”, “Irises”, “The Starry Night”, and “Almond Blossoms”.  This exhibit has been so popular in Vancouver it originally sold out in minutes. The exhibit has since been extended until August with some tickets still available. I highly encourage you, if you are located in the Lower Mainland, to purchase tickets. Now more than ever it was so nice to go out to an “event” and feel like life’s back to normal again. Not to mention the technology is so progressive. It is great to see an artist that was made popular so many years ago presented in a new way a whole new generation can enjoy!
