One-Day Juice Cleanse

Last Sunday I decided to try my first day long juice cleanse!

A juice cleanse is a diet that consists of only consuming juice from fruits and vegetables in attempt to detoxify your body. After researching a few companies, I decided to purchased the “quickie” juice cleanse from Freshii. To be honest, I selected the Freshii pack because it rates high for me on both cost and quality. My cleanse consisted of 5 juices and 2 shots.


Green Genius

Juice cleanses have many benefits including:

  • Fruits and vegetables are high in vitamins and minerals. Drinking juices could introduce extra nutrients into the body to boost overall health.
  • Juices are rich in anti-inflammatory compounds that may boost the immune system and help a person feel more energetic.
  • Many juices flush toxins from the body, although they rarely specify which toxins the juices remove.
  • Juices could help improve digestion by introducing healthy enzymes that make the gut work more efficiently.

The day of my juice cleanse I had a workout in the morning. I started with the “Green Genius” juice and I felt energized throughout the hour long workout. After, I had my second juice around 11:30 am. Around lunch time I began feeling a bit hungry, but after the next juice I was okay. At around 3 pm I was definitely starting to struggle with feeling tired and I had a headache. I finished the rest of the juices between then and 8 pm and my headache went away. In the end I had one shot left that I didn’t feel like I needed. The next morning I woke feeling great with lots of energy.

I would do a juice cleanse again, however, I don’t think I would do it for longer than a day. I would not recommend doing an intense workout the day of your cleanse as I think this was the main reason I began to feel lethargic later in the day.
